Just Posted: Nikon 1 V1 and J1 review. The Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II is the least expensive lens currently available for the EOS system, and has been in the lineup since late 1990. It's a simplified version of the original EF 50mm F1.8 of 1987 (often referred to as the 'Mark I') which was supplied as standard with some of Canon's earliest 35mm EOS
The current-at-review-time Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM non-IS Macro Lens was already a great lens with fast AF and excellent image quality. The Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L USM Macro Lens, while it has great build and image quality, could really use a new AF system - and IS would be especially helpful at this longer focal length. Alas, Canon has

Canon's EF 100mm IS, EF 100mm and EF 180mm macros focus to 1:1, or life-sized, which fill the frame with something as small as 24 × 36mm (0.94 × 1.4"). You can't go wrong with this little jewel. No one else makes anything similar that does so much in one lens. Bravo, Canon!. I got my RF 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM at B&H.

The Canon 300mm f/2.8 L IS II USM is equipped with the second generation Image Stabilizer, which gives a gain of 4 f-stops when hand holding. This gives a chance at short hand holding this long lens with good results. The big talk is around the introduction of a 3rd Image Stabilizer mode. Mode 1 helps with both horizontal and vertical
Pros: compact, light, affordable, super fast auto focus, sharp and excellent bokeh Cos: Not really a complaint. But you need a good body and carefully perform MAFA for better focus as DOF is razor thin at F2. Focus though super fast but offten hunts in low light on 5D mark II. Maybe thats the body issue not the lense.
