I'm pretty new to Yaris's, so I was wondering if anyone can help and give me any advice on whether the 1.4 D4D in general (will be looking at either a 58 or 08/57 model with about 20k on the clock) is reliable, and if there's anything to watch out for on yaris's in general?

I have read about testing the scv's electronically, and a couple of members have said that they have tested OK, but carried on and replaced them and solved the problem of intermittent power loss. I am OK with mechanical problems, but electrics have me baffled. I got the impression that the d4d engine has an achilles heel, being the scv's.
Research could not identify the common 3.0 D4D engine problems (identified with the Hilux 3.0 D4D & Fortuner 3.0 D4D) to be present in the Prado ’s 3.0 D4D. The only issues that could be identified were the following: Radiator Issues. It was reported that some owners experienced problems with split radiators.
